Gymtastics Play-it-Forward "Projects" :

Here is an overview of current and recent projects, enriching the lives of so many children through its sport and play programs in Canada and countries like South Africa, Peru Tanzania. We believe in giving back and "playing it forward" is a perfect way to reach and teach as many people as possible through projects that are sustainable benefiting not only the children but their communities.

2018 Uganda

In February 2018, six volunteers from our charity traveled to Uganda, Africa. We set-up a Sports and Play physical education program at a rural school near the Masaka village with over 350 students attending. Most of the children we met live below poverty. Our team was warmly welcomed and embraced. 2016 Guatemala

We have just finished another successful mission of sharing our love for children and passion for sport and play.  We were so fortunate to instruct and work with over 200 children that came from a pre-school, elementary and middle school from the small village and community in Chivarabal, a half hour away from the city of Tecpan, Guatemala. 2015 Calgary Summer Camp

For the fourth consecutive year Play-it-Forward has hosted 'The Extreme Team Sports Camp' in Calgary, Alberta. Fifty well deserving children ages 5-12 years old and over 15 volunteers attended. Read more...

Keeler School Physical Education Program a Huge Success!

It was a crazy, energetic week in May with the Calgary School Physical Education Project.

We had over 350 children Kindergarten to grade six and 18-20 teachers attending the 3 day program at the Keeler School in Calgary, Alberta.

2015 Day-of-Play

A special thanks to the three agencies that helped us reach the families. Calgary Learning Village Collaborative, The Interfaith Food Bank and Immigrant Calgary Services.

Over 60 children and their families attended and fifteen volunteers attended the event and what a success it was!

2014 Calgary Summer Camp

For the third consecutive year Play-it-Forward has hosted The Extreme Team Sports Camp this summer in Calgary, Alberta. This volunteer-run sports camp gives under-privileged children the opportunity to participate in activities promoting fitness and basic gymnastics skills, and gives them an introduction to sport.

This year's camp was a huge success!

2014 Calgary

Play-it-Forward Projects collaborated with Calgary Interfaith Food Bank to provide a "Day-of-Play" for children whose families are using the services of the Food Bank. We opened the doors at Gymtastics Gym Club's newly opened north location and provided a fun-filled day for children to participate in sports and physical activity.

Close to a 100 children joined.

2014 Chetah, Dene Tha'

Play-it-Forward Projects has kicked off 2014 with a powerful project at Dene Tha’ Community School, a First Nations kindergarten through grade 10 school in Chetah, Alberta.

We were working closely with the staff and teachers to implement a sustainable sport and play program. We will also teach this program to the 180 students attending the Community School.

2013 Calgary Summer Camp

Building on our experience in 2012, our 2013 Summer Camp was an even bigger success making a difference to 100 under-privileged boys and girls (ages 4-11 years) living in the Calgary area.
Four fun filled days of morning and afternoon camps were held July 2-5, 2013.

Melissa Benassi, a fourth grade teacher out in Strathmore, Alberta went to Tanzania, Africa.

2012 Calgary Summer Camp

In 2012 our Play-it-Forward Project was a Summer Camp program held at Gymtastics Gym Club in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Gymtastics Play-it-Forward Projects provides an opportunity for children facing financial and/or social barriers that live in the Calgary district, the chance to attend a Spectacular Sports Summer Camp week at Gymtastics Gym Club.

2012 Tanzania Africa

In 2012 a group of young people went to Tanzania, Africa.

Gymtastics Play-it-Forward Project gave a games booklet and parachute to a group of volunteers lead by Paul Rodgers to share with school children in Tanzania, Africa.

2011 Tanzania Africa

In 2011 Gymtastics Play-it-Forward traveled to Tanzania, Africa.

On this project we joined forces with the Starehe Children's Society of Canada mission team in Mwanza, Tanzania. We brought our Gymtastics Play-it-Forward Sports Program to the Starehe Children's Orphange Home.

2011 Peru

In 2011 a small group of volunteers went to Peru.

They brought with them a Play-it-Forward games guide booklet and a parachute to play with the children they were working with at the school.

2010 South Africa

In 2010 Gymtastics Play-it-Forward traveled to South Africa to help set up a sports program at the Sikelela E.V.I.G.Orphanage School in Kwa-Zulu Natal. This project was offered to over 140 children attending ECS to Grade 7. Read more...
