2011 Tanzania Africa

Updated: Jan 16, 2019

In 2011 Gymtastics Play-it-Forward traveled to Tanzania, Africa.

On this project we joined forces with the Starehe Children's Society of Canada mission team in Mwanza, Tanzania.

We brought our Gymtastics Play-it-Forward Sports Program to the Starehe Children's Orphange Home. We provided a structured educational summer camp program.  We also provided funds for much needed sports and games equipment, educational supplies, mentorship materials, clothing and so much more.

A large group of 14 volunteers from the Calgary area traveled to the orphanage and were kept very busy teaching, leading and running the summer camp for almost 3 full weeks. A hard but very fulfilling project!

We had the privilege of bringing our Play-it-Forward Summer Camp program to an orphanage in Mwanza, Tanzania.  There were over 120 children with the ages ranging from infants to 19 years. To most of these children this was their very first experience at a fun Sports and Play Summer Camp.

All those involved the directors of the Starehe orphanage, the pastors and teachers, the caretakers, the volunteers and the children who live at the Starehe orphanage home and the whole community were truly touched and moved from their experience with the camp.
